Description
- Cytomegalovirus (CMV) is a common virus for people of all ages; however, a healthy person’s immune system usually keeps the virus from causing illness.
- A positive test for CMV IgG indicates that a person has been infected with CMV at some point in their life, but does not indicate when.
- Such individuals are potentially at risk of transmitting CMV infection through different modes. Positive CMV IgM results indicate a recent infection which may be primary or reactivation / re-infection.
